
<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=us-ascii"></head><body style="overflow-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;"><p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">Dear All,</p><p>with NOBUGS 2024 drawing closer, I'd like to invite you to the "Introduction to the Karabo SCADA framework" workshop.<br><br>Karabo is an asynchronous, broker-based SCADA framework developed and in use at the European X-ray Free Electron Laser. It was conceived with high data rates exceeding 15GB/s in mind and controls the photon systems and scientific instruments of the facility. It is open source and available at: <a href="https://github.com/European-XFEL/Karabo" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">https://github.com/European-XFEL/Karabo</a></p><p>At the upcoming NOBUGS, we are looking forward to giving a workshop on the basics of the system for the first time at a major conference. We will explore Karabo's main Python API, which emphasizes asynchronous programming and coordination of multiple distributed pluggable components, so-called devices while avoiding domain-specific language constructs. You'll learn to</p><ul><li><p>interact with the system through its generic GUI interface and create code-free synoptic views, so-called scenes,</p></li><li><p>write a macro within the GUI thereby scripting the system using Python</p></li><li><p>write your first middlelayer device, and expand on that knowledge to coordinate multiple devices,</p><p></p></li></ul><p>You won't need much more than a laptop and a bit of existing Python experience. The hands-on sessions will be performed in a browser using the VISA platform.</p><p>Looking forward to seeing you in Grenoble,</p><p>Steffen for the European XFEL Controls Group</p><div>
