Dear Nobugs subscribers,

In honour of the 20th anniversary of CIF, the upcoming IUCr meeting in
Madrid (August this year) will feature a COMCIFS-sponsored
microsymposium (MS-89) entitled "Scientific Data Archiving, Exchange
and Retrieval in the 21st Century". We have three excellent invited
speakers, Brian Matthews, Brian MacMahon and Peter Murray-Rust.
These speakers will discuss various topics drawn from the past,
present and future of scientific data exchange and management.

David and I as co-chairs of the session would like to invite
contributions, whether poster or oral, to this microsymposium. While
CIF-specific contributions are welcome, you should not in any way feel
restricted to CIF when preparing your contribution; for example, XML
or NeXuS-based work is also appropriate, as indeed is anything that is
related to data archiving, exchange or retrieval.

Note that contributions relating specifically to crystallographic
databases are better directed towards MS-27 "Developments and
Directions for Crystallographic Databases".

The deadline for abstract submission is currently April 28th. The
instructions
for abstracts and link for abstract submission are at
http://www.iucr2011madrid.es/index.php/abstract/abstract-submission
<http://www.iucr2011madrid.es/index.php/abstract/abstract-submission>
If you would like to contribute an abstract but are unable to meet this
deadline,
please contact me directly.

James Hester and David Brown, co-chairs.
